Comrades and Friends of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 233 Orangeville.

    If I may:
You probably have noticed that “our branch” has become a little busy of late. It is great for us for a number of reasons, i.e. more people coming into the branch, using our services, maybe thinking about joining this great legion of ours. We still have our rentals, our Wednesday night euchre, our Thursday night darts, our kitchen, our great June/July/August Parking Lot events plus our golf and corn hole tournaments. All add to us ensuring that the branch remains viable.

On another note, we have had inquiries about having other venues join us, i.e. parking lot (boot) sales, craft and bake sales and a variety of workshops.

The latest inquiry been about “Line Dancing” for beginners. It has been quite well received within our community (according to facebook/website). We have the downstairs room available for use, and it will (hopefully) bring in more people and resources for the branch. Downstairs is a room not being used Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The only day available for the instructor to have this happen is Wednesdays. This will cause the branch to be busy that night, but it is do-able. The time period for this event, at the moment is from 9 September 2026 to 28 October 2026.

We have had many things impact the branch over the last few years. You members know what they have been. So anytime that something comes up which will help us in maintaining the branch, I as the president, could not in all honesty, turn those opportunities down. That just would not be right.

So, I hope all understand. Our main mission has always been to support our veterans and their families, but without support from all within our communities, it becomes much more difficult. Available empty space does nothing to support our branch, it is just lost opportunities. When opportunities arrive, we must take them.

    Yours in Comradeship

    Chuck Simpson

          NEWSLETTER SPRING 2026

A Message from Branch President Chuck Simpson

            Greeting One and All,

As you may notice, our branch (233) is getting busier and busier, with a great kitchen menu being posted, which will allow you to pick out some fantastic food items as well as a very comfortable patio area to sit outside and enjoy the great weather. We will also have our picnic tables available (covered) shortly.

I have to mention that there is euchre available on Wednesdays (7pm) and pickup darts, Thursdays (7pm) for the summer. Regular dart league will be back in the fall (to be posted).

We have two parking lot events coming up, along with a boot sale and a Corn hole tournament. Busy, busy busy.

Our branch rentals are still available. The best way to check on dates availability and cost to rent, is to either email (the best way) the branch at rcl233@rogers.com (with return phone number) or phone 519-942-4895 and leave a message.

There will be times when our bar staff (who are very busy dealing with our customers) will take your information down and then place it in the in basket for our office staff to action when they come in. Bartenders do not book events at the legion, they just take down the information and pass it along. Please be patience, we will get to you ASAP.

Again, many many thanks for all of the support we are getting as of late. I wish all a very happy and enjoyable summer. Hope to see you at the branch.
